DoubleCheck is seeking a part-time editor with a strong background in technology industry market research editing to join our editorial team. Experience working for Gartner, Forrester, IDC, 451 Research, Aberdeen is a plus. This position reports to our director of content. Primary responsibility includes standard copy-editing and proof-reading, providing quality control by comparing interview audio files to written transcriptions, and creating interview-related reports.
Core responsibilities:
- Edit assigned reports and other documents each day.
- Make changes to edited materials directly into system.
- Discuss any issues with author/s as they arise.
- Take initiative to check and confirm statements, statistics and other material in written research submitted to Editing, as necessary.
- Edit presentations to deadlines, including liaison with analysts, Graphics, and other colleagues.
- Help shape the development of policies, standards and procedures within the Global Editing group and in relation to analysts.
- Help establish and implement quality controls throughout the workflow process.
- Work cross-functionally with all other teams/departments including Research and Graphics to improve workflow process, procedures, and application systems.
- Take part in departmental projects.
- Complete additional projects as needed.
- Undertake continuous, job-related training to maintain editorial quality levels and improve individual skills.
Job Requirements:
- At least five years' editorial experience, preferably working for newspapers, magazines, or journals in the field of IT or communications technology, in a busy environment with strict deadlines.
- Bachelors degree in English, Journalism or Liberal Arts
- Excellent English language skills in editing and writing.
- Tact, firmness and sound intuition when dealing with analysts and others.
- Numerate and visually literate.
- Knowledge of the IT and telecommunications industries is helpful.
- Ability to manage projects, and juggle a diverse workload.
- Quick to understand new concepts.
- Well versed in Microsoft Office applications (primarily Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Knowledge of the IT and telecommunications industries is helpful.
